Keith Bulluck was another veteran lost to free agency so linebacker was a bit of a concern. Linebacker Rennie Curran from Georgia is a bit undersized, but has some intangibles that Jeff Fisher loves. The secondary was in need of some talent and got it. UCLA cornerback Alterraun Verner, Utah corner Robert Johnson and FSU strong safety Myron Rolle should all contribute. Rolle is the real question mark in most peoples minds. There’s a good chance he’ll be the smartest player on the field at all times, and if he can prove he’s dedicated to football he will be a Pro Bowler for years to come. The backup quarterback position was a concern so they drafted Rusty Smith from Florida Atlantic. The Owls quarterback has all the physical traits and could develop well under Fisher.

They brought in one more target for Vince Young. Montana receiver Marc Mariani has some upside but looks to work his way onto the roster via special teams. They also added a little more bulk to the middle of their defense by drafting Brown defensive tackle David Howard. The Titans had a solid draft. And with some quality coaching from Jeff Fisher it could look better and better every year.

As for the Colts, it’s pretty much the same old story. The Colts are 11-0 and looking like, well, the Colts. So what makes anyone think the Titans can beat them.

Right now the Titans are playing the kind of football that is designed to beat the Colts. They’re running the ball well, Vince Young isn’t making mistakes, and the defense is playing smash mouth.

These are the kind of teams that can beat the Colts. Keeping Manning off the field with well balanced, error free drives. Playing aggressive on defense and getting in the quarterbacks face.

Tennessee is going to have to play their best game of the year to beat the Colts, but they can do it. If Chris Johnson can have a big day running the football and they can put pressure up the middle on Manning, they’ll have a really good chance of winning this game.

The Colts need to score early and take the run game away from the Titans. If theTitans are forced to play catch up and throw the ball, it could be trouble for them.

The game winning drive that went for 99 yards and a touchdown was nothing short of incredible. Vince guided the team down the field with great poise and converted three 4th downs, including the play that got them the touchdown.

That game winning drive may remind a lot of people about another game winning drive Vince Young had while he was still in college. It was that drive in the Rose Bowl against USC that moved Young to cult-like status with Texas fans and showed everyone watching that he was ready for the next level.

Now after a rocky start to his pro career Vince Young seems to have taken his game to another level. This is the Vince Young everyone has been waiting for, especially the Titans. Yesterdays game will be one he will remember for a long time and hopefully there’s a lot more of those ahead for him.

I have no problem with Maurice being confident with his team, but there is a fine line between confidence and blind faith. The Jags go into Sundays game against Tennessee sitting at 3 and 3 and fresh off a bye. While they’re not a basement dweller they certainly don’t belong in any kind of talk about which teams that are playing the best right now. I actually don’t know if I like their chances all that much against a Titans team that is gonna have something to prove on Sunday. And I really don’t know if I like their chances if Maurices confidence echoes through the locker room. Maybe that’s the Jaguars problem, they think they’re better than they actually are.

Or maybe Jones-Drew is right. Teams that are at the top right now may not be there come playoff time. And teams that nobody thought would be there might show up. The Jaguars truly do have a talented roster and Jack Del Rio has shown in the past he can get his team ready to play and show up on Sundays. So it’s possible Jacksonville is in an advantageous position. When they come out and say they’re the best team in the league guys like me laugh. That could be all the motivation they need. I guess we’ll have to wait and see come February, when the best team in the league actually proves it.

The time may be right for a change considering the Titans used the third pick in the 2006 to obtain Young. Kerry Collins has been on a downward slide since his dismal performance in last years 13 to 10 loss at home against Baltimore in the Divisional round of the playoffs. But lets face it, Kerry could have very well have been playing over his head last year for a team that had an excellent defense, offensive line and rushing attack. So the answer to the question of whether or not to play Vince Young is becoming more obvious: What have you got to lose?

There’s a pretty good chance that Tennessee doesn’t make the playoffs, like a really good chance. When the Titans drafted Vince Young they thought he was going to be the future of their franchise. Hey 2006 Titans, it’s the future now! If the future solution never becomes the present solution it’s going to throw Tennessee into a faster nosedive. It’s time to see whether Vince has what it takes to be a competitve qarterback. The team still has talent but what they don’t want to do is be without a consistent playcaller behind center. Finding out whether Young has what it takes will put the Titans in a better position of knowing their needs going into the offseason. If they wait another year on him and he doesn’t pan out the team will dissolve faster than a Hollywood marriage and the Titans will be left as a shell of it’s former self. And Jeff Fisher will be left with a pink slip.
