Pittsburgh-Denver Monday Night Preview

Monday nights game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos has all the makings of a great game. Pittsburgh is coming off a bye sitting at 5-2 while the Broncos suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.

Right now Pittsburgh is sitting in a tie for first place in the AFC North with the Cincinnati Bengals, and with the Bengals being 3-0 in the division right now and the Steelers at 1-1, this is a very important game for them. They can’t afford to lose any ground in the division.

Denver came out of the gates flying, starting the season off at 6-0. Last weeks loss to the Ravens sent them crashing back to Earth. But this is an extremely talanted and well-coached football team that has one of the leagues top defenses. I expect to see the Broncos bounce back with a good game this weekend.

The key in this game for the Steelers is to play a full 60 minutes of football. They’ve had their problems finishing off teams and with Denvers weapons on offense Pittsburgh needs make this a point of emphasis. With guys like Brandon Marshall, Knowshon Moreno and Eddie Royal, the Broncos can put up points quick.

If Denver can come out and play hard and keep this a close game going into the fourth quarter they have a good chance of winning. Last week they had a hard time gettng going on offense. They just couldn’t seem to find any rhythm against Baltimores defense, which isn’t all that uncommon. I’d look for them to try and get the short passing game going right away to help get that rhythm back.

These two teams match up fairly well and I think this game is going to go down to the wire. In the end though the Steelers find a way to close this one out. For what it’s worth I think the final will be 27-20 Pittsburgh.
